This all started with a phone call … I was initially contacted by Iram from Innaaya Bridal as she needed some images to add to her portfolio. She got my details through a friend of a friend and sent me a text message. I was sitting in a coffee shop waiting for a client who was running late so I decided to call Iram back to get a better understanding of what she needed. Straight away I knew we’d get on … funny how you get these vibes sometimes 🙂
We arranged to meet up and before long the date was booked, the models selected and the outfits picked.
The day before the shoot our original bridal model pulled out and Iram, bless her, put a call out on Facebook for a new replacement and luckily one of her friends came to our rescue 🙂
On the day of the shoot we started a bit later than originally planned but after two hours in hair and make up our first model was ready. While I was shoot with model 1 Iram got our other two models ready. They both had more of an Asian Party/Engagement look but again looked stunning especially with the diamante jewellery in the retro hair styles.
Here are a few of the images from the day …
I really enjoied working with Iram and I’m sure we will be working together soon. In fact we are looking into putting a make-up/Photo shoot package together so watch this space … but in the mean time if you would like to book a shoot for yourself or as a present why not contact me at Aldanah Photography.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Here are a few images from this weekend’s shoot with the girls … Hope you LOVE them as much as I do 🙂
This shoot was with my niece Jenna and her cousin Piper. Jenna’s become quite an expert at modelling 🙂 she turned up with a number of outfits and decided on a funky style to go with this red background … she had me in stitches and it wasn’t long before we were in the swing of the shoot. Piper, on the other hand bless her, was a little more reserved and shy in front of the camera. So it was best to stop for a while and have some playtime we then include the toys we where playing with in the shoot … and there is noting like teddy making rude noises to make a kid laugh. Its hard work working with kids but the results I’m sure you’ll agree are priceless.
If you would like a similar portrait session for your kids please do get in touch and we can get something booked.
You can find all my details from my websites contact page Aldanah Photography
Here are a few shots from a recent family shoot I did for my brother and his gorgeous family. Not that I’m biased at all :0) … What do you think, is this something you’d like for your family?
If it is, send me an e-mail via my Aldanah Photography website’s contact page and we can get a date booked.
I don’t know about your neck of the woods but around here in Peterborough our snow is already melting so I decided to go out this afternoon, with my macro lens attached to my camera, before it all disappeared.
Here are a few shots taken of the snow melting in and around our greenhouse … I particularly like the ones I took from inside the greenhouse looking up into the melting snow agains the sky.
I do hope we get some more snow later in the week so I can take some more images … I love taking pictures of the snow.
This shoot was booked in January but as it was such a dull and gray winter we decided to wait and scheduled the shoot over the Easter break… We were really lucky and thankfully, despite all the heavy showers we’d been having, on the day of the shoot the Sun came out to play. Ryan and his school friends met me down in Ferry Meadows one of my favorite shooting locations. The group turned up all bubbly and raring to go and we really did have a great time taking these shots. There was a great energy and they were happy climbing trees, jumping of poles and laying in the grass as you can see here …
If you’re thinking this looks like fun and would like to do something similar with your friends or family why not contact me and we can get something booked.

As anyone who knows me know that I love love love the snow. Here are some of the photo’s I took, in Ferry Meadows Peterborough, last weekend before all the white stuff melted away …
Diana is a professional bellydancer with 12 years experience and has been teaching in the Derby area for the past 6 years. For further details on her classes why not check out her website Mehira Jewel.
I’ve known Diana for a number of years, over the years we met at many dancing events and was very honoured when she agreed to be our star performer at Shisha Lounge, an event I co-organised with Clair McGregor, back in Oct 2009. Clair and I have recently resurrected Shisha Lounge and we hope to host Diana again soon… For up-to-date performers listings and dates check out our site.
We started our day with a cup of tea and a chat about how and where the pictures were to be used. Diana explained that they were for promotional use and social media.
Diana applied her own makeup, which I was very impressed with, as it looked stunning. She then got into her first outfit of the day. We decided we would start with some static poses which she took to very naturally as you can see from the below images. We then thought we needed some music so I got my iPod out and Diana started dancing. I feel this introduces another level to the images. You can see the movements in the swish of the hair and skirt wafting. I really like this style, as I believe that movement adds life into my pictures. In the last few shots we started using some props. Diana doesn’t normally use props in her solos but borrowed a sword from one of her students and one of my sticks. The whole shoot took just under three hours but time just flew by as we were having so much fun.
If you would like some portraits of yourself or Troup let me know and we can sort something out. My e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
I will be working with Diana again soon as I will be photographing the Hossam and Serena Ramzy show in Derby that she is hosting on the 19th November 2011. So watch this space for photos of the event …
I was contacted by Janet Rose a motivational speaker and Sharon Roberts one of the founding partners at Vision Development Consultants to do some corporate portraits for use on a new website, social networking, a magazine article and promotional material. I’m really looking forward to seeing the new site the Vision team are developing and finding out how they’ve used these images. In addition to the new site they are busy sorting out some dates for a new business networking event and workshops so watch this space…
Sharon and Janet work very closely together so it made sense to combine the shoot into one session, which was held at Visions Nottingham Office. We were also joined by Visions other founding member Brendan Blewett. I have attached a selection of my favorites from the day.
As soon as I walked into the office I fell in love with the space. The light was amazing. The main office area had huge windows running down the whole length of one wall and one of the sidewalls had exposed brick which just added great colour and texture to the final image. A great location which I hope to be able to utilize again soon.
Janet and I have worked together on a number of occasions in the past but these have always been around dancing. It was really refreshing to see her in a different light with her corporate head on so to say. We couldn’t help ourselves though, the bling just had to come out even for only some of the shots, as you can see. I will be the official Photographer at Janet’s Sahara Nights on 24th September 2011 and again on the 12th November 2011. I plan to have my studio lights with me on both occasions so if you would like a portrait of yourself why not come along and say Hi.

Went to Liz and John Denton’s studio in Bishop Burton near Hull yesterday for their ‘Stretch The Quads day”. This was arranged in conjunction with The Flash Centre who brought along Elinchrom’s Quadra range of lighting for us to test. We ended up using a mix of flash and ambient light which made some interesting images as you will see below from the photos I took. And! we couldn’t have asked more from the models, Sarah and Laura, we had backflips, spins, jumping splits, fire eating you name it. It was a great day and a great opportunity to experiment with this kit. Now I just need to save up to buy my own set or I might take The Flash Centre up on their offer and hire the equipment for a weekend.
I was recently up in Nottingham shooting the dance show Oba Oba Yalla which was organised by the lovely Janet Rose and Tatiana Woolley. The show was held at Nottingham Arts Theatre. Tati and Janet have spent months choreographing all the routines, coordinating with the musicians and making all the costumes. I believe that all the hard work was worth it in the end as the show was fantastic and I was privileged to be invite to capture the vibe of the show. We were all certainly on a high afterwords as you will see from the below photos, which were taken just after the show ended.
